How to check your bill
- Find the kWh used and the number of days in the billing period on your bill.
- Enter your unit rate (price per kWh) and any fixed or standing charge per day. In the UK the standing charge under the price cap is 54.83p a day.
- Compare the result with the bill. A large gap can mean extra charges, taxes, a different rate for part of the period or an estimated reading.
Your real all-in rate
The calculator also shows the all-in price per kWh: total cost divided by kWh. It is the fairest number to compare with your state’s average in electricity rates by state.
