Effective date: 13 October 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how PlugPenny (plugpenny.com) uses cookies and similar technologies, which ones are used, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and device identifiers. We use the word “cookies” for all of them. Some are set by us (first-party cookies) and some by other companies whose services we use (third-party cookies).
2. Cookies we use today
Reading PlugPenny does not require any cookie. Our calculators run entirely in your browser and do not store what you type. At the moment the Site does not use analytics cookies.
The only cookies set by our own website software are WordPress cookies for logged-in editors (names beginning with wordpress_ and wp-settings-). Ordinary visitors never receive them.
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
We plan to show ads provided by Google AdSense. When ads are running, Google and its certified partners may use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. With your consent, these cookies can also be used to show ads based on your interests.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __gads, __gpi, __eoi | Google (set on plugpenny.com) | Ad delivery, frequency capping and measurement | Up to 13 months |
| IDE, test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Ad delivery, measurement and, with consent, personalised ads | Up to 13 months |
| FCCDCF, FCNEC | Google consent message | Remembers the choices you make in the consent message | Up to 13 months |
The exact cookies can change as Google updates its services. The full and current list of advertising partners is shown in the consent message under “Manage options”. Read how Google uses cookies in advertising at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
4. Your consent
- UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland: before any non-essential cookie is used, you will see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform. You can accept, reject or choose by purpose and by partner. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you can still read the whole Site.
- United States: where state privacy laws apply, you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising through the consent message or by emailing us.
- Changing your mind: once ads are running, a “Privacy and cookie settings” link appears on every page and reopens the consent message so you can withdraw or change your consent at any time.
5. Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. To opt out of personalised ads from Google, visit Google Ads Settings. You can also use youronlinechoices.com (UK and EU) or aboutads.info (US).
Blocking cookies does not stop ads from appearing. It means the ads you see will not be based on your interests.
6. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when we add or remove a service that uses cookies, for example if we start using an analytics tool, and change the effective date above.
